Can someone tell me what cme (continuing medical education) is for?
Why people take CME? Who can take CME?

Medical types need CME (MDs, DOs, and PAs) to renew their licenses This can be a lecture on line, a CD disk, a conference attended, a journal read etc. It is 1 CME per 1 hour activity & there is usually a test to take at the end that you pass if its a journal or CD (not if its a physically attended lecture)..For PAs you need 100 CME hours every 2 years. You have to submit the names of the lectures & where as well as keep a copy of the certificate you receive for attending in case you are audited. For my Med Tech license I need 12 CEUs every year.
This is a way to keep current on new diseases, new treatments, complications, ways to do procedures, ethics, new laws, ways to bill etc. The content of the courses varies greatly
